Teaching

Teaching at the Academy comes in two forms: a long course that builds a complete practice, and short sessions that take one subject far enough to be used.

The course

Three years, covering interpretation, the astronomy and calculation a practitioner needs, and the skills a consultation demands. It is arranged so that nothing is introduced before the ground it stands on: dignity before aspect, condition before prediction, technique before the ethics of applying it — and then the ethics again, at every stage.

Seminars and workshops

Each of the subjects below can be given as a weekend seminar (two days, twelve hours), a one-day workshop (six hours), a half-day mini-workshop (three hours), or a single lecture. Any of them can be adapted for a group or an organisation; write to us through the contact page for details.

Delineation

• The native in the nativity — psychological delineation as traditional practice actually performs it, which is neither modern character description nor fatalism.
• Warrior, trader or artist? — reading a predisposition towards a kind of work, and the difference between aptitude and outcome.
• Conquest and victory — Mars in the nativity, and the power dynamics a chart will and will not tell you about.
• Sexual behaviour in a nativity — relationship and sexual dynamics from a traditional perspective, and the care the subject requires.
• Prosperity — the promises of success and fulfilment in a natal chart, and how to tell a promise from a wish.

Condition and difficulty

• Under the power of the Sun — combustion, being under the beams, and cazimi: three states that are constantly confused and have quite different effects.
• Between a rock and a hard place — besiegement and the conditions that resemble it, and what aid can still do.
• Moon and Mercury, the keys of counselling — what the two of them show about how a consultation should be conducted.

Prediction and election

• Revolutions of the art — applying and combining the traditional predictive techniques in an order, rather than reading them side by side.
• Profections: a practical guide — a straightforward presentation of a method that is simple to calculate and easy to misuse.
• Constructing the perfect chart — the rules and the practical compromises of astrological elections.
• Predicting with astrology — worked examples from natal, mundane and horary practice.
