Why the journal keeps a weblog

The journal appears twice a year. A great deal that is worth recording does not wait six months, and does not deserve an article when it arrives.

That is what this weblog is for:

• Worked charts — a horary answered, an election judged, an event chart read while the event is still fresh.
• Points of technique — a distinction the sources make that modern practice has flattened, or a rule that turns out to rest on a mistranslation.
• Notes on the sources — what a text actually says, as against what it is usually reported to say.
• Corrections — including our own. A judgement that failed is worth more, written up honestly, than three that succeeded.
