The house system poll

House division is argued more than any other technical question in astrology, and almost always on principle: what a system divides, which authority used it, which is philosophically coherent.

Nobody has asked what practitioners actually use.

What we are asking

• Which house system you use, and whether you use different ones for different purposes — natal, horary, mundane.
• What decided you. The distinction that matters here is between a reason and a default: many practitioners use a system because it was already selected in the software, and that is a legitimate and interesting answer.
• Whether you have changed, and what changed your mind.

Readers who prefer to answer with the twelve houses in front of them will find a reminder of what each one signifies.

Why it is worth knowing

Because the gap between the literature and the practice is itself evidence. If most traditional practitioners have converged on one division despite the sources disagreeing, that convergence needs explaining. If they have not, the honest position is that the question is open — which is worth stating plainly.
