Who teaches here

The Academy is taught by practising astrologers. That is the first requirement and the one we will not relax: a technique that nobody uses in front of a client tends to survive in teaching long after it has stopped working.

What we ask of a teacher

• A consultation practice. Anyone teaching interpretation here sees clients. The difference between a technique that reads well on paper and one that holds up in a consultation is learned in only one place.
• Familiarity with the sources. Not scholarship for its own sake, but enough to know where a rule comes from, what it originally said, and what happened to it in transmission. A surprising number of modern commonplaces turn out to be copying errors.
• The willingness to be argued with. A judgement that cannot be defended step by step is not a judgement. Students are expected to push back, and teachers are expected to answer.

Guest teachers

Alongside the regular course we invite astrologers from Portugal and abroad to give workshops and lectures, chosen for a particular competence rather than for a general reputation. These sessions are open to people who are not enrolled on the course; they are announced on the events page.
